Totally unhelpful. There are no pre-drilled holes to connect the seat to the chair frame, so you will be doing drilling and hoping you lined it up correctly. This assembly is NOT easy, and I consider myself to be a fairly handy person. (Ie, I don't struggle with Ikea furniture assembly.) The chairs are comfy and look great, but I give 2 stars because I spent hours and hours last night cursing and being frustrated before these chairs were finally put together. The assembly is so shoddy that the legs are not squarely screwed in place to support sitting weight of the average less-than-200-lb person. After one close call, took it for repair, to straighten, re-screw in the legs. Nope, can't be done. Repair requires drilling/aligning new screw holes but the metal is so thin it would give way again. Forget too expensive, plain too dangerous! Good quality versions of these retro chairs are available, perhaps not from mail order sellers at less than $50/chair, probably more at a store where you can inspect and make sure they sit squarely. Most impotantly, where you can report a defective product. When I visited, they seemed quite nice and matched their kitchen well. Since there are six people in his family, I asked them if they wanted four more which they did. So I had these sent. They are very pleased with them. They arrived quickly. However, the shipping cost was exhorbitant (but they were still cheaper than anywhere else). |
